Not Quite Guys...

I don't like writing about thing's I don't like, I usually leave that to Prancehall and Hyperfrank (R.I.P the blogspot) but every now and again I get the urge to be a bit real.com. I don't like this tune or video at all, the video looks cheap and the tune is just too American sounding for my liking, the Grime MC's are even spitting old bars, surely a new production and a new video warrants new bars?

AIR...

''Take My Picture''...

I had an event in Northampton March 21st for ChockABlock's Birthday and it was actually a lot, it felt like a house party and for some strange reason it feels like ChockABlock is more of a social gathering rather than a rave, even when I hold events in London, people skank, go outside for a ciggy and randomly get talking to a Fashion Designer, NEXT TING! Below are some pictures from the event, taken by Tim & Barry.

Sorry for the total neglection of blogging and ting, I've just been mad busy sorting out a few ChockABlock events that will be taking place in coming months, writing for new publications soon to land and general raving (I went out every night last week, can you believe it) Anyway below are a few more freestyles from the camera leng men aka Tim & Barry. TFL (Transport For London) should get this girl below to make this an official tune, it would be alot. Dizzle Kid, very underrated!

Enjoy...

Is NOISE The Way Forward For Bassline?

Bassline as we know it has come a very long way since the old skool Niche days, but it seems a lot of the music has now become NOISE, which is what I am calling it now. Compare the tune above the the track below and tell me I'm not right in saying that. Personally I think it has changed for the better, I prefer the grimier type of Bassline anyway, but many people mostly the ladies that listened to 'NICHE' have now become fans of Funky in the Midlands and Up North because they can't take the noise and MC'ing over Bassline but the true fans of the sound still remain and you can see that at many many Bassline events today. What do you think though?

iDJ Magazine Out Now!!

Yes people, the latest issue of iDJ Magazine is out now and it features my articles on Burgaboy and Wittyboy. It looks alot if I don't mind saying so myself, so go COP DAT! : )

My ears just got run up on like I was getting robbed or suttin with this tune right here. I'm overly feeling this GRIME track from the Ruff Sqwad lads (and guests). The video is A-M-A-Z-E. I also appreciate the auto-tune that is used on this track, it sounds quite appropriate.

Part 1

WOW...

Just surfing the net as you do and came across these videos, the first one was made 2 years ago and it sparked off so much controversy that a few other non Black Jamaican people felt the need to post videos about who they are aswell, without getting stereotyped. Random but very fascinating...

Grunky...

In the late hours last night I was talking to Rossi B and he was telling me about a tune Ghetto did with Lil' Silva, which I had no idea about, only to look on the Grimeforum today and see this video. I think it would be alot as a single release, don't you think, although I don't think that the Grime over Funky haters would appreciate it.

iRate.

This tune is one of the Bassline scenes most popular tunes around at the moment (well has been for the past 6 months anyway). Above is the unofficial video for Trilla Jermaine Trilloski's Etap Gyal A Get Bang track. The art direction, once again is A-M-A-Z-E. The official will be landing soon... I hope?

The Ever Growing (RANDOM) Relationship Between Late Night Sports TV Shows & Underground Music Artists?

Over the past few months there have been more and more people popping up on these random late night Sport shows. Is it a plot to make the show, 'cool' and 'urban', or do they actually like these guys enough to put them on there? I don't know, I don't really care, question is are they taking the piss, or is it a good look for these underground folk? I think it is very random for these MC's to be on sports shows and I think many people agree, but if it's extra exposure then why not init. Who next, Ghetto, Trim, Tempa T maybe, that would be crazy no?

''All My Midland Crew Say Oiii''...

Think Lord Of The Mics (without the clashing), then put in some Midland and Up North MC's and throw in some Bassline beats for good measure and what do you get, Street Ryhmers .

“Street Rhymers” is self explanatory, founded by LJ who decided that Leicester needed regular music related events. So from their on he went to hook up and cook up with DJ Slipmat (Higher Stakes) from Wolverhampton to make this happen. A professional studio quality set seemed to be the key to keep the grime scene in Leicester healthy. These sets will be set in rounds, and the people who feature on it will change as the rounds progress. Rounds 1, 2, 3, 4 and a special Exhibition Round are now available for download, with Round 5 coming very soon. We're expanding Street Rhymers now and it will no longer be Leicester MCs specifically, so look out for spitters from all corners of the UK coming soon to future rounds!

If you think you're one of the best up and coming talents in Grime and you would like to feature in the next round of Street Rhymers, please contact us through this MySpace page. You can also add us on MSN:

inthestreets@live.co.uk

Support the grime scene, support the Midlands and up North, and stay locked on to this page!''.

You can download a Steet Ryhmers Vol 5 here, featuring some of the best acts in Bassline.

No More Grime For BADNESS?

Badness recently did a little interview with the Grimeforum crew, he has now given up the Grime Ghost, interview below.

Rumours circulated around the Grime Forum and on roads that Badness, arguably the MC from outside of London to have made one of the biggest impacts in the scene, had decided to leave grime behind. While negative press on grime isn’t something I often like to promote, I wanted to catch up with Badness to determine why he had made this decision and what it meant for the future.

Yo Badness, the rumours that are floating about on road and on net that you’ve quit the grime scene, can you confirm this?

Yes, I can. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaavvvvvaaaaaaa!!!

What was the final straw that led you to quitting the scene?

The final straw was the sidewinder event in Bristol, it’s all starting to get stupid and past negative. I came into the scene again to up lift the youth’s not to bring them down because I saw that they needed guidance- not violence.

Does quitting the scene mean that you won’t be touching grime music at all, or will you still be collaborating with grime artists for their projects?

I will 100% not be collaborating with any more grime artists. What is done is done. 99% of them don't have any thing positive to say. We need more tracks like Inna Da Ghetto and that’s like trying to find a needle in a hay stack.

It’s said that you turned up to Rinse FM so much that you must have lived there or owned a place next door! Haha, it’s not true is it?

Yes it is true Rinse FM is my house and what!? But I’ve just bought myself a bigger apartment I had too many unwanted visitors trespassing! Dun know. Big up all the Rinse FM family- Geeneus Rat Saira. Sir Spyro Scratcha. O…………K!!

What’s next for Badness then? Lava Eruption is out on the 16/3/09 nationwide, what can your fans expect from this album?

Yeah it’s not an album its a gyalbum full of nuff La…….Va unity. We make the people come together and have a good time but too many people in grime are bad mind. They don't like to see the yout’s buss.

Any final comments?

Look out for Bannana Clip single getting let off very soon on Tru Tiger Recording’s produced by Suge Knight.

Get A Grip...

People are actually getting offended by this track and video from No Requests and T&B, so much that it is Youtube's promoted video today with a plethora of hate comments. It's only true talk and well, a bit of fun I suppose, so just lighten up because, 'we ain't got no moneyyy'...

These are the latest 'hood' videos from Mobstarz' Gmoney. I'm over feeling the North London (Wood Green, we must emphasise?) rappers at the moment, they're flow is on point still, changes everyone trying to sound like Giggler...

This is one of the very few Funky tunes I do actually like. I think it could possibly leave a dent in the charts if it was to get signed, (were not talking number 1 or owt, but still) it's got all the elements that make a good tune, great vocal, well put together producky. You should see the amount of people that buss the Funky Chicken dance to this in the rave... A-M-A-Z-E.

Calling All Lovers & Makers Of MUZIK!

My friend in journalism, Chantelle Fiddy has now become a Music consultant for hit T4 series, Dubplate Drama. She is currently calling music in so if you'd like to put forth anything current, new, unused, anthemic, send it through. Filming begins in March (this time round it's two hour-long feature length specials) so trying to get stuff in asap. She will be handing over the first batch to the producers tomorrow. Feel free to either send MP3s to her, upload your files somewhere, or send me a disc to: Chantelle Fiddy, Livity Towers, 3rd Floor, Piano House, 9 Brighton Terrace, London SW9 8DJ or email them to - chantelle@livity.co.uk

If you've watched the program before you will know what they are looking for, for those that haven't, think Grime, Dubstep and more Grime.

iRate.

After seeing this posted on Fiddytrons blog, it has been in my head on repeat. I've always thought Dubstep music has some sort of weird energy behind it's sound, but I still like some of it. This La Roux chick has been doing her thing recently, not all her stuff is to my taste obviously but she can dropkick some high notes star. I've always rated Skream, he makes Dubstep you can shake a leg to, which is hard to get with a lot of Dubsteppery, saying that though, some ghetto chicks I know that you'd think would be more on the Grime, Bassline and Funky are actually more into Dubstep these days. MADNESS!

The MC's favourite MC aka Tempa T, has a tune out today called Next Hype, if you didn't know already. The video will be out soon and hopefully an album in the summer. But as we know by now Grime albums can take up to 10 years to complete, so we will have to wait and see...
