Nu Wiley Video Meets Nu Rave Madness?

Was sitting on myspace all day as you do, and came across some of these pictures of Wiley's Summertime video set. Everyone looks like they will be all Raved out in Cassette Playa who recently sent a load of Grime and Bassline folk such as Tempa T, Sas Killa, Afrikan Boy, Silverlink, Dexplicit and Logan Sama to Italy for some fashion business.

SUPERSUPER's Namalee was Fashion Manager for the video, hence the mad colours and all that nu rave jazz. I dont know wheeeere Wiley is going with the pyjama attire though, is that in your new line or something CP?

iRate...Funky House?

Donaeo. Devil in a Blue Dress. from Luke Van Boom on Vimeo.

I can not deny that this funky tune from Donaeo is a big one, it has some grime elements to the production (or am i begging it again?). Its odd because i take to new genres quite well i think, well if i think it can last but this one i am finding hard to adapt to, i think it sounds too much like slow 'tribal' soca for my liking.

All my London and Midland folk are over feeling it and i'm finding it hard to get away from at the moment, it's actually dread. Maybe it will grow on me like Bassline did, you might see me writing more about it sometime in the near future you never know. I highly doubt it though.

Classic: Number 4

Regal Players - Rudeboy Refix

If your a Channel U head then you would have seen this video on repeat about 2 years ago, it features many Mcs from different areas of London including Big Narstie, L.Man, Essentials (when they were one happy family) and a few other randoms. I found this remix of the tune on Grime Forum which triggered off that weird thing in my head i told you about.

Tinchy Stryder will be bringing out a new single entitled First Place that will be produced by UK electro scenester Frankmusik and is said to be out in November on Island Records. I think this electro flex is here to stay for a bit so we might aswell get used to it, good luck to them i say.

How Ironik...

Ironik - I Wanna Be Your Man

Ironik is back again with another sweet boy tune, it seems like we all turn our noses up at grime artist/tunes like this as it is classed as a 'sweetboy' tune but we cannot knock their hustle, they are making that yenn, they've got the girl fanbase on smash, got to rate that no?. I would rather listen to 06' Slew Dem than Aggro anyday though i have to say...

Is it me or does these two tunes sound similar?

Fiddsta On Telly!!!

Chantelle Fiddy the Queen of Grime journalism is back repping for the scene (like she ever left the grime scene, people dont see how much work she put's in behind the scene).

This is a 3minute clip of her interviewing Target and Tinchy Stryder on the ever changing sound we like to call Grime for Channel 4's Bright New Wonders series, which also featured my boss lady Namalee Bolle.

Well done to both of them, never know we might be seeing one of them hosting big brother or something soon. Big up Butterz for standing still in front of the telly recording it.. haha.

Stutta - Im That Guy

Although i have had enough of MC's talking about and praising themselves like they are the best thing since sliced hard dough bread, this tune gets a bligh. Stutta has a good flow over this accoustic grime track and the lyrical content overall is very much on point.

Filly - Sweat (The Drip Drop Song)

This track comes from UK unsigned act Filly , with this video she it features one of the newest dance craze to hit the U.S called 'Sliide'. I call it new because i haven't heard of the ruddy thing but it has apparently been about since 2007 and is now at your local 'urban' dance class in your local community centre (help us!). I do like the concept though, it reminds me of the whole Juke thing a little bit, why hasn't Juke blown yet? its beyond me.

Giggs Album Report...

Sent to me today by management:

''The album which reflects the streets and the life of Giggs, has an underground feel but caters to young and old, male and female alike re-writ all the rules in UK Hip-Hop when it sold out on its first day of release.

Fans were left upset and some even angry when told that the album was no longer in stock after they had queued for hours outside HMV and other Independent music retail stores.

At 9.30am in HMV there were reported fights between fans determined to get there hands on one of the last copies of the album. Giggs' management has released a statement to fans informing them that more copies of the album Walk In Da Park will be available by the middle of this week.
''

Big things are poppin off for the UK today with Young Dot mixtape and Tinchy Stryder single out aswell...

JP is happy, just keep the music coming artists.

Giggs - Uummm! (Official Video)

This may look i have a slight obsession (No Holmes) with the constant posts but this guy right here is doing very much of alot.com for me at the moment, I've never liked UK Rap so much until now. His flow, his bars, he is just coming with a different style. His album 'Walk In Da Park' is out Monday 4th August nationwide, believe me when i say it will be sell arrff.

This video still looks a tad bit goonish, will music television channels appreciate the realness? Who cares, enough people know about him without the telly hype anyway...

Classic: Number 3

Jamie Duggan & TS7 - So In Love

If you were around back in the 'Niche' days you would recognise this tune, it brings back alot of memories for me (even though it is only like 2 years old but still). This is when the sound was less wobbly and noisy, but we love it all don't we.

Ctrl+ Alt+ Shift+

So i am now writing for Ctrl+ Alt+ Shift+ a new project put together by Christian Aid and run by Grime veteran Chantelle Fiddy and Neil Boorman with some well known journo's on board who have also written for RWD, Voice, Fader and more.

Taken from thier website:

''Ctrl+ Alt+ Shift+ isn’t here simply to raise awareness - we want to bring about change. So for every issue that we highlight, we offer you easy ways for you to help. You can comment and interact with articles and even the upload your own images and video to start debate and conversations. You can send text messages to register support (we generate income off this too). And you can recycle your old mobile phones with us – make money out of that one. These calls to action might not seem like much, but collectively they enable us to force change. So, if you’re moved by one of the stories you read here, be part of the equation – we guarantee you can make a difference''.

My features will be different to what i usually would write, which i actually find very rewarding. Music is my love but when you discover other things to write and talk about, it can change your views on life. Trust me.

Do check them out Online and in Print

My Channel U Round Up.

So i have been watching Channel U (the channel we love to hate) alot recently to see what the UK is gwanning with and a few videos caught my eye, here's my verdict on them.

23 Deluxe ft. Daniel Joe - Show Me Happiness

Ok i like noise but this is some next level business, the b-line is all over the place, Bassline has melody, this does not work for me. Funnily enough a friend of mine was asked to do some work with these guys and asked for my opinion and i said if the music is good enough to attach your name to it then do it, if not allow it.....It never happened. I do like the video though.

Nia Jai ft Chipmunk & Natty boii - Hey Girl

All i can say about this is you shouldn't do tracks that are so shite just for money, yeah im sending and wot. Nice video...End.

Cyko Logic - Down Wid It Remix

I like this track and video by Cyko Logic, Ice Kid is back out there alongside Slix and some next random dudettes, but generally its ok, not too sure about the 'I wear tracksuits cos' im down with it' bar though, very random.

God & Grime, An Unlikely Partnership?

What comes to your head when you look at this flyer...Baffled? I was thinking the same thing. One thing i have been against from the start is mixing Grime or any form of worldly music with the church. I'm all up for GOOD alternatives (which is hard to find) as we can see...

At 16, 17 who wants to listen to pentecostal hymns when their friends at school and college are spitting bars all the time? Now you may be thinking how hypocritical of me to say that, do you not believe in God, go to Church and listen to worldly music at the same time? Indeed i do but when it comes to the house of god and you have people talking about things of the roads it just shouldn't mix.

''I buss 7, buss 8, buss 9, I buss 10, I buss Skeng''...''Amazing grace how sweet the sound, that saved a wrecth like meeee''. It just doesn't go does it. I haven't spoken to any one that has attended the first two events it may have went extremely well.

I grew up in church yes, but have also been influenced and part taken in what you may want to call road life and as someone who knows the difference between the cultures i think i have a right to comment.

End.

In The Mix With Santogold...

Queen of the Dub/Electro/Pop scene (well she is the only one isn't she really) Santogold has put together this new FREEEE mixtape alongside Mad Decent's Diplo, big up the Mumdance and Slew Dem track making it on there aswell. Young Guns Crew - Count Down

Who can remember this tune which came out around late 2006? It did alot on tv and in raves, never was there so much interest in Channel 4's Countdown show till this came out with the sampling. Since this was shot as we know Slinger passed away (R.I.P). And no i didn't call myself JP after the one in YGC, its actually my name if you haven't noticed, i used to get that all the time i did. It seems Mingstar is still on his music grind which is nice to see, with new tracks in Bassline,Hip Hop and Grime.
